English on Holiday

Rufford Old Hall. National TrustRainford footpathChurch Street, Rainford VillageLiverpool Waterfront

This is the course to choose if you want to improve your English whilst also enjoying a holiday!

Rainford, a typical English village, is surrounded by farmland with many pleasant walks in the area. It is ideally located for excursions to places of interest, for example, the cities of Liverpool and Chester, the smaller market towns of Ormskirk and St Helens, the Lancashire coast, the seaside resort of Southport, and the many museums, art galleries, gardens and National Trust historic houses in the area.

You will have 15 hours of 1 to 1 tuition  each week plus, if you wish, 1 hour of 'homework’ each evening. Each lesson will of course concentrate on your particular English language needs, but, as far as possible, will be based around your chosen excursion for that day and your particular interests.

Each day we will accompany you to one of the many local places of interest  selected by you. At least one of these outings each week will be for a full day. The full cost of each accompanied excursion – transport, entrance fees, refreshments, plus lunch on full day excursions – is included within the course fees.

This combination (of formal 1 to 1 tuition, accompanied excursions and mealtimes with your two teachers ) will ensure that you are practising your English for 12 hours a day, but always in a very relaxed and enjoyable environment.

The inclusive fees  for a one week course are £765 with a 5% reduction for the second or subsequent weeks of longer courses. There are no "extras" to pay with these fees which include accommodation, meals and transfers from and to Liverpool and Manchester International airports or local stations for trains and buses.

As you become more confident in using your English, you might wish to undertake a trip by yourself. We can help by supplying information, maps, transport timetables and details and costs of other leisure activities  such as golf, tennis, swimming, sailing or horse-riding.

You can ‘Learn English on Holiday’ at any time of the year, but please remember that some National Trust properties have limited  opening times from October to February.
